TAORMINA SERVICES - CVT Regional Material Recovery Facility, Page Two.

The CVT Regional Material Recovery Facility includes:

  1. An 800-foot-long automated and manual sorter/conveyor system which accepts all recyclable and non-recyclable solid waste materials and separates them into bundles based on size and type. The facility will process material which has gathered as commingled recyclables, three-bin separated recyclables or unsorted (trash and recycables).
  2. Three bailers each of which can bundle separated recyclables into 1,500-pound-bales. These bales process at the rate of 50-120 bales per hour.
  3. A 40,000-square-foot waste transfer center where non-recyclable waste is processed daily before transfer to nearby landfills.
  4. The CVT Education Center where the community may experience an "inside" look into solid waste processing and the recycling industry. The Education Center features videos, interactive displays and guided tours.
